Benue Cement Company Football Club is commonly known as BBC Lions Football Club, the club is indigenous to Benue State Nigeria and resides in the town of Gboko as well as uses the J.S. Tarka Stadium, Gboko as their home stadium for training and other sporting activities.
The reason behind the club’s name is self - explanatory, the club was founded by the owner of Benue Cement Company Plc in the year 1982 hence the name and has recorded many achievements in the field of soccer games in Nigeria.
The club has produced many outstanding players who have played not only for the club but has made the club proud by showing their skills in other local matches, national and even international matches.
Achievements of the football club are not limited to their appearances in the Nigerian Premier League in the year 1994, the club has also participated in Nigerian FA Cup in the year 1989, 1993 and also 1994 and 1997.
BBC Lions FC had also in 1990 featured in the African Cup Winners' Cup as well as in CAF competitions such as African Cup of Champions in the year 1995 where they reached the second round.
And also in CAF Cup Winners' Cup where they made 4 appearances, first in the year 1990 topping the list to emerge as that year champion, they also emerge as a finalist in the year 1991, reached quarter-finals in 1994 and made it to the first round in the year 1998.
